eighties funk band Mazarati, best known for their 1986 hit 100 M.P.H., written by
Prince. Also, check out a quirky entertainment site he created called Jimib's
Insanities Sins. NOTE: This site has not been updated in a long time now
but still remains up.
Artist Homage Pages from T-Mad's Music
- Dawn Silva, BRIDE OF
FUNKENSTEIN: In April, 2000 Dawn Silva, formerly of
Parliament-Funkadelic and lead vocalist of P-Funk girl group The Brides Of Funkenstein,
paid a visit to T-Mad's Music and wrote me to thank me for my support of the funk when I
was featuring The Brides' 1979 album Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy. I got her
funk package which included an advanced copy of her new solo CD, All My Funky Friends,
a T-shirt with very sexy artwork of her, and an autographed photo. Check out my
little homage page to the original Bride of Funkenstein.
Other Artist Web Sites (will open in a separate window)
- DAVE OSOFF:
This artist recently visited the CHOCOLATE MILK web site along with saxophonist
Amadee Castenell Jr. and dropped a line here at T-Mad's Music. He was in a group
called the Vykki Vox Band and, after many years in the business, has a solo CD out called Mosaic,
which he was gracious enough to send me a complimentary copy of. Check out his site
and this CD for some great progressive fusion jazz music.
- MICHAEL B. SUTTON:
I recently got turned on to the latest CD from soul singer/songwriter/producer
Michael B. Sutton. He and his then-wife Brenda recorded as Mike and Brenda Sutton
back in the day. He now has a solo CD out titled Hopeless Romantic, which
I've also received a complimentary copy of. This CD is good old fashioned old school
soul music with real singing and real instruments - check it out.
- ZAPP: NEW - The surviving Troutman brothers have decided
to keep the ZAPP name alive and continue the band's legacy in the wake of the tragic
deaths of group founders Roger and Larry Troutman (as a side note, sadly, Roger Troutman's
son Roger Jr. recently passed away as well). Although you probably won't hear it on
conventional commercial radio, ZAPP actually has a brand new CD out - ZAPP VI.
Check out their new site which serves as a historical retrospective on the band
with Roger as well as a venue for promoting their new CD, complete with song excerpts.
